We are thrilled to share that Ride Colibri is nearing production-readiness and the first batch of M22s will begin shipping to customers in just days. Over the past few weeks, our team has built over 20 motorcycles featuring fully integrated mudguards, off-road tire options, and a rear luggage top case.

The current production motorcycles look fantastic, with 90% of orders in a striking yellow color. The only change on the final production M22 models will be a slight improvement to the fit of certain panels. Optional vented side panels will also be available to partially enclose the bike and create a storage space when using only a single battery.

Ride Colibri Production Progress and Specs

Over the past year, we’ve made numerous upgrades to the M22 as we moved into production:

  • Battery capacity increased from 70Ah to 75Ah per battery (5.4kWh total with 3 batteries)
  • Higher quality motor for more torque and power, especially off-road
  • Majority of orders are for the long-range 3 battery configuration

The first batch of 100 is completely sold out, with a few kept for press and testing purposes.

We are aiming to take pre-orders for the next batch now and place the parts order so there is no gap in production.

Ride Colibri – M22 Delivery Update

Delivery for new orders would be in September, and you can still lock in your M22 at the current production cost (while supplies last) of $2,799 (single battery) or $3,795 (3 batteries) if you order by Sunday, at midnight.

After that, prices will increase by $1000.

EU homologation testing is underway and expected to take 3-6 months (maximum). In the meantime, EU bikes will ship speed-limited to 25 km/h. The firmware will allow easy unlocking to 45 km/h once homologation is complete. US models will ship with a VIN and MCO to facilitate registration as a moped.

We are incredibly excited to begin delivering the Colibri M22 to our supportive customers. More updates, photos and videos detailing the bike’s features will be released very soon. Make sure you’re subscribed to our Youtube channel for live updates.

Please reach out if you have any other questions!

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Customers

Q: What is the current pricing and shipping cost for Ride Colibri M22?

A: Starting June 17, pricing is $3,999 for the single battery version and $4,995 for the long-range 3 battery version. Up until that moment, you can order your M22 with a $1000 discount if you have made a price reservation on our website. Shipping to the USA is approximately $800. To verify your deposit and secure your M22, reach out to petre [at] colibri.com.

Q: Are the side panels included?

A: The side panels are an $80 add-on accessory as the bike was originally designed without them. You can choose solid or vented panels. The vents provide some cooling airflow in hot climates.

Q: What is the expected delivery timeline for Ride Colibri M22?

A: The first batch of 20+ bikes will ship by the end of this week. Production is continuing at a rate of about 3 bikes per day. We aim to have all current orders shipped by the end of July. EU bikes will initially be speed-limited pending homologation.

Q: Do you have any details about shipping to various places in the United States yet?

A: Yes, we are able to ship anywhere in the US at the price of $800 for door delivery.

Q: How do the batteries and motor handle heat?

A: The batteries and motor have temperature sensors and safeguards to prevent overheating, shutting down around 80°C and 140°C respectively. Real-world performance will depend on factors like ambient temperature and riding style. The batteries are also designed for 1000+ cycles and 5+ years lifespan.

Q: Can the speed be unlocked on EU models?

A: Yes, the bikes will ship with the necessary firmware already installed. You will just need to follow provided instructions to enable higher speeds once homologation is complete and the bike is registered as a moped. This ensures EU models can be ridden legally in the meantime.

Q: Is the bike tested for water ingress?

A: Yes, basically, the bike is built to withstand weather. You can’t submerge it, but water or rain and any kind of spraying or washing it with a hose should be fine. The batteries and the electric compartment are fully enclosed and all the connectors are automotive connectors. So they are designed to withstand weather.

Q: What controller is used and can it be modified for more power?

A: We’re using a FarDriver controller. It’s a 200 amp controller, and that’s the nominal power, it goes up to 400. But with the current setup of the hub and the batteries, I wouldn’t modify it that much. We will send a stock software version and you can look online how to change the software or firmware to get more power or change components. That’s something you can do if you want to.

Q: Will the vents in the side panels influence cooling?

A: The vents will influence a bit of cooling if you’re riding in a very hot climate. But from the tests we’ve done, because the battery lid and panels create a buffer zone between the batteries and the outside, the outside gets hot but the batteries should stay quite cool as they’re not directly exposed to the sun.

Q: What model of motor is used for Ride Colibri M22?

A: It’s a QS205V3 motor.

Q: Will there be a pedal kit available?

A: It’s something that a lot of our customers have asked for, and we are working on a version with pedals.

Q: How can you update the speed limit after the homologation process for upgrades?

A: We will send the EU bikes locked into three gears. First gear will be e-bike speed (25 km/h), second gear will be 45 km/h, and third gear is off-road mode. To access the higher speeds, you need to make a slight change to your bike. It will be hard coded and the firmware will already be there.

Q: Have we performed any endurance tests? What are the battery and motor temps after X kilometers?

A: Yes, we’ve done some tests. In off-road mode, the bike gets hot much faster and we have temperature protection if it gets too hot. But this is weather dependent. The motor and batteries have temperature sensors and protection. If it gets too hot you have to wait a bit to cool it off.

Hey everyone.

We’ve been working hard for the past weeks to bring you the best possible off-road experience with Ride Colibri M22, and I’m thrilled to show you the latest version of the Theta, complete with off-road tires and sleek mudguards. Watch the production update video here.

The yellow accent color really makes this bike pop, and we’ve made a small change for the production version – the struts will now be painted in the same color as the headlight cowl, giving the bike an even more cohesive look.

You might also notice the cool paint accents on the brake caliper holders, both on the front and rear. It’s all about the details, right?

Now, I’ve got some great news to share with you. Our factory has been buzzing with activity, and we’ve already built over 20 Ride Colibri M22! We’re just waiting for the final box and pallet specifications, and then we’ll start shipping these beauties out to our eagerly waiting customers.

But wait, there’s more! In just two weeks, we’ll be showcasing the Theta prototype, along with our production, pre-production, and early prototype models at the Romanian Tech Week in Bucharest. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and say hello. Even better, you’ll have the chance to test ride the motorcycle and ask us any questions you might have. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this opportunity!

I can’t wait to see you all there and share in the excitement of the Colibri journey. Until then, keep riding, stay safe, and get ready for the next chapter in the Colibri story!

Cheers,
Petre
